The International Homicide Investigators Association (IHIA) is conducting a Basic Homicide Investigators Course, sponsored by the Office of the Hampden District Attorney the Massachusetts State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation – Boston Division. This 5 day/40 hour course of instruction is scheduled for Monday May 21, 2018 thru Friday, May 25, 2017, at the Town Square Building 2ndFloor Conference Room located at 1500 Main Street Springfield, Massachusetts.     

This program is designed to improve and enhance the abilities of the homicide investigator through the introduction of a core minimum standard of training, while also introducing updates, changes in the law and new advancements in science and technology.

Topics include: Responsibilities of the Homicide Investigator, Duties of the First Responder, Crime Scene Analysis, Homicide Types & Offender Motivation, Crime Scene processing, Role of the Coroner/Medical Examiner, Investigative Resources & Techniques, Serial Murder, Interview & Interrogation, Suspect development, Victimology, Case Management, Documentation & Report Writing, Media Relations, Prosecution & Legal Matters, Ethics, Stress Management.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?  Any Detective, Homicide Investigator, Crime Scene Technician, Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office Investigator, Prosecutor or First Responder tasked with investigating homicides or other violent crime.  

     The Cost of this course is $350.00 per student, which includes all instructional materials and handouts, a one-year membership in the IHIA, Certificates, ID card and daily refreshments.
